The Grotto

The Grotto
This is one of my favorite meditation spots in Memphis. One of those little hidden gems that few people in town even know exist.

Serenity Now... Serenity Now...

terrific loooking place but now everyone has seen it, you may lose some of the tranquility and find lots of people there taking fotos Tue 27-Jul-2004 21:56

New Orleans After Dark

Church Quiet Zone
Pirates are Coming
With the old architecture and the gas lights, the French Quarter of New Orleans lends it self well to night shooting.

French Quareter in Black & White

Working the Crowd
Break Time
Square Crowd
The French Quarter lends it self very well to shooting in black and white. The mix of modern and old blend in such a way to give texture and feeling to any shot you take.

The man in Working the Crowd is a Jackson Square regular doing his escape act for tips.

Where else but the French Quarter would you see nine chefs having a break on the street corner?

One of my favorite citys to shoot in is New Orleans. Not just the French Quarter, but there is a wealth of subject matter all over the region.

This is Destrehan Plantation. Enjoy

Land of the Setting Sun

Sunset on Banana Bay
Flight to Freedom
Sunset Magic
When we were in Key West we stayed in a small motel called Banana Bay on the north side of the island near the marina. As you can see the view from the balcany could be just amazing.

The same night that I took the Transitions shot I cought Flight to Freedom. Freak chance made the little cloud look like a flying bird between the giant thunder heads and the color was just fire.

Key West is a major stoping port for a number of cruse ships. While we were there 3 ships docked on different. This is the bridge of the Disney Magic. Truly one of the largest cruse ships I've seen in a long time. Two Royal Caribian ships also came into port. Even though they, themselves, where huge... you could have put them BOTH inside the Magic.

I want to be there! Fri 23-Jul-2004 01:48

# 1 is absolutely amazing! The other two are super, too.
I've seen that Disney ship, too, and I agree - it is a giant!

Sunset Island

Sunset Island
Silhouette of America
Transitions
Everyone in Key West gathers in Malary Square each night to watch the sun set. I'm not sure what the reason is, but it always seem that the sunset is just unreal each and every night.

Here is an example of two nights over the 4th of July weekend...

Fire Poy at Malary Square - Key West

Goddess of Fire
The Fireman
Every night at sunset in Malary Square on Key West people and performers gather to watch the sun set. These two did a Fire Poy act that was accually very good.

He clamed to have been doing it for about 8 years... her for about 6...

Yes... I know there is some blur to the images... it's hard to hand hold 3 1/2 lbs of camera for 1/4 second...

Beautiful pics...
Nicely done...

This first entry is a test of the Fotopages system to see how it all works and how it will place things on the screen.

These are a few shots I've taken around the Memphis area.
